After years of stalled activity, One Camelback at the corner of Central Avenue and Camelback Road is getting a fresh start. The highly visible tower, long known for its design potential and skyline presence, is now under the ownership of Kinella Capital, which is actively moving the project out of limbo and into completion.

The building, originally envisioned as a collection of 163 modern residences with expansive views, had reached roughly 80 percent completion before broader market conditions and construction challenges slowed progress. With the acquisition now finalized, Kinella is reestablishing direction, schedule, and momentum for one of Phoenix’s most watched adaptive reuse projects.

A New Owner With a Construction Led Platform

Led by Founder and CEO TK Stratton, Kinella Capital has taken over both the ownership and execution of One Camelback. The project came to Kinella following a trustee sale in which Acore Capital had taken control of the property. Post Road Group is providing the capital solution that supports the reset.

Rather than viewing the building’s history as a liability, Kinella approached the opportunity by focusing on the strength of the intersection, the neighborhood, and the long term potential of a true Uptown landmark. Stratton and his team are responsible for aligning design, construction, engineering, capital, and operations so that the building can finally reach completion.

Bringing Construction In House

One of the key advantages for Kinella is its construction led model. Holding both KB 1 contracting and A 1 engineering licenses, the team is able to manage work internally instead of relying on a long chain of outside consultants and general contractors.

That capability allowed Kinella to dive into detailed construction forensics. The team has been evaluating the building level by level, reviewing fire and life safety systems, structural connections, amenity layouts, and unit details. The goal is to resolve open design questions, align all disciplines, and remove uncertainty that previously weighed on the project.

Partners including Cushman & Wakefield, Post Road Group, Stellar Residential, and the City of Phoenix are supporting this next phase as Kinella finalizes the development path forward.

Leaning Into Location and Design

The renewed vision for One Camelback emphasizes the qualities that have always made the site attractive to renters and investors alike: direct light rail access, walkable dining and retail, wide views, and strong neighborhood identity. The building will offer modern interiors with floor to ceiling glass, elevated finishes, secured parking, wellness focused spaces, and technology forward features designed for today’s residents.

According to project partners, One Camelback is positioned to function as a true Uptown landmark. The combination of glass, views, location, and amenity design is intended to create a residential experience that balances convenience, sophistication, and a clear sense of place.

From Speculation To Visible Progress

For the surrounding community, the restart of One Camelback brings closure to years of speculation about the future of the half finished tower. With ownership clarified and construction back on track, Kinella is now working through final schedules, completing remaining scopes of work, and preparing for phased occupancy.

Visible progress is expected over the coming year, a welcome change for residents and commuters who have watched the building sit idle for far too long.
